Officiating

At Beyond Beautiful Officiating, we know sometimes couples don’t have a hometown church or family pastor who can perform their wedding ceremony or they just want to have a custom ceremony created for them. For couples who are looking for a non-denominational officiant, we are proud to offer professional wedding officiating services.

We have two ministers ordained by the Universal Church of Life which welcomes all people of all beliefs and relationships. We are approved to perform ceremonies in Nebraska and we verify per county. We are available for destination weddings as well.

How Does It Work?

An officiant will meet with you at Hello Beautiful Bridal & Formal Wear to discuss your vision for the ceremony. We will provide framework for the ceremony and vows, and work together to identify special passages, quotes, and music that are important to you. The couple will be responsible for providing any quotes, passages, or music for the ceremony although we are more than happy to share ideas. The officiant will write those special additions into the ceremony. A rough draft of the ceremony script will be provided via email and the final draft will be sent no later than two weeks prior to the wedding.

During rehearsal, your officiant will help you organize your wedding party, communicate the plan for walk through and help everyone practice where to stand, spacing and cues for what to do. Our goal is to help everyone feel comfortable and confident for your big day.

The day of the wedding, your officiant will arrive 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start time. We will meet with the photographer and sound person as needed to discuss any needs they have for the ceremony. For example, we like to tell your photographer which direction we’ll step off to when you have your BIG KISS at the end of the ceremony. While our smiling faces are enjoyable, we’d rather you have a great picture of you officially kissing without anyone standing in the background.

What Are the Fees?

The fee depends upon the type of ceremony you are wanting. Any event occuring on a Saturday/Sunday is considered a a Full Service Ceremony.

Full Service Ceremony: $500.00 (This is our most popular service)

Includes one full consultation, the rehearsal (one hour), and the ceremony. The officiant will arrive 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. Should the couple request an officiant be present for the blessing of dinner at the reception, there will be an additional fee of $50. Any travel outside the Kearney, Nebraska city limits will be charged at the rate of $0.575/mile each way, and overnight or flight travel expenses will be paid by the couple. A 50% deposit plus a completed contract is required to reserve the wedding date. Deposits are non-refundable unless Beyond Beautiful Officiating must cancel service. We do everything in our power to avoid a cancellation and have a list of additional resources to ensure this is not an issue. This service is available Monday – Sunday. *All wedding dates on a holiday or holiday weekend will be a fee of $1,000 plus mileage (if out of town).

Tips for selecting a professional wedding officiant:

  1. What type of ceremony do you want? Modern or traditional? Religious or secular? Musical or special readings? 10 minutes or 60 minutes? Prior to communicating with an officiant, the couple should discuss what kind of ceremony will best share their relationship with others and allow you to communicate your commitment to one another. Your officiant will be able to share some templates for ceremonies and help you complete the details of the experience. Our goal is to create a full custom ceremony that is uniquely yours.
  2. What are the local requirements? While your officiant should be able to tell you the local requirements and if they are approved in your county or state, it’s always helpful to do your own homework just to be sure. For example, in Connecticut, Virginia, and Nevada, an officiant ordained online is not recognized. Validation can vary by county so it’s best to call your county office. For example, Buffalo County in Nebraska recognizes online ordained officiants and only requires they: 1. Have a title such as minister, reverend, or pastor; 2. Complete the paperwork within 2 weeks after the wedding and return it to the county office.
  3. Can you meet with your officiant? While you don’t necessarily have to meet in person, if you and your fiancé are able to have more than one interaction it will help you understand if your personalities are a match. While you don’t need to be best friends with your professional officiant, you do want to feel comfortable and “jive” with them.
  4. What do you want the officiant to wear? Be sure to let the officiant know what you would like them to wear. If you’re having a casual wedding and wearing boots, it might make more sense for your wedding style to have them dress differently than if you’re having a formal tux & tie wedding. Your officiant will be able to give some suggestions as well.
